But just as she’s about to succumb to tragedy, another girl just a few years older comes to her rescue; a mage from the Administrative Bureau. The eyes of that older girl pierced through the smoke and the flames, right into the little girl’s heart. She cried out, not in suffering, but in frustration at her own helplessness. At that moment, she decided: “I will become strong.” Four years later, that little girl is now the size of her savior she met that day. She now knows the identity of her idol: Nanoha Takamachi, ace of the Bureau’s Air Force. To the little girl, she represents an unattainable height: a star in the distance, far beyond the clouds. But that little girl had made up her mind. Even if she can’t fly, even if she can’t reach the stars, she will stand on her own two feet, arms outstretched, reaching out for them.
